THE highlight of the week for members of Lyme Regis Bowling was the there bi-annual trip to Winchester City bowls club. Twenty-four members participated, with 20 going by coach.

By Dick SturchAlthough LymeRegis Reserves put in a disappointing display at Central on Saturday, losing 5-1, the scoreline flattered the home team to a certain extent but there was no doubt they were beaten by superior opposition.
Lyme, who travelled with a bare 11 players, started on the front foot, creating some good chances and keeping the Exeter team penned in their half. But the Seasiders failed to cash in on these and Central started to gain ground in the Lyme half, winning a free kick 30 yards out, which crashed off the bar and hit the back of keeper Rob Harp before going in the net, to make it 1-0.
Uplyme hosted Seaton 2nds on Saturday, hoping to do the league double over their local neighbours.
With some key players away, it meant manager Steve Gillan had to shuffle the squad. With no natural centre backs available, it was down to Cody Bowditch and new signing Conor Newns to step into the roles.
AFTER two weeks, Axminster Conservative Club and Castle Inn, Axminster, are leading the Lyme Regis Cribbage League with eight points each. Lamb Swans are heading the Beer Leg, one point ahead of Dolphin, Beer.

Huge congratulations to the Lyme Regis Bowling Club Ladies who have won the June Culpin trophy against Blandford.
The team were: Ann Allman, Lesley Broom, Nicky Driscoll, Mary Haseman, Chris Pomeroy, Angela Rattenbury, Sue Rowe, Erica Sarson and Pam Weech. The overall victory was by eight shots.
