Lyme Regis 1st team produced a simply breathtaking performance against a team two divisions higher to earn a thoroughly deserved 5-0 victory on Saturday – and will feel they may have had even more.
Lyme were sharper from the moment the game kicked off and raced into a 4-0 lead by half time.
Fred Parsons poked home the first from a Rob Fellingham corner after just 15 minutes.
Joe Bond, who had just had a-one-on-one with the keeper, made no mistake the second time as he latched onto a through ball and rounded the keeper after 20 minutes.
Fred Parsons converted the third, cooly side-footing past the keeper, before Sam Pollard Jones scored the pick of the goals when Joe Bond picked him out at the back post and he produced a sublime first-time volley into the bottom corner.
The second half was more of the same as Bovey Tracey had no answer to Lyme's slick passing game and the Seasiders continued to create a host of chances before Joe urquhart scored the fifth as he rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into the empty net on 60 minutes.
A great all round display from every member of the team and a result which delighted joint managers Mark Bailey and Julien Simier.
