UPLYME have got off to a good start to the 2020-2021 season games, scoring 10 goals and playing some exciting, open football in their two fixtures.

Last season Uplyme gave a number of youngsters their first taste of men's football under Stu Wooster and for the coming season new manager Steve Gillard has made a number of new signings, including prolific scorer Jonny Day, a former Lyme players who scored 21 goals in three seasons..

Yesterday (Saturday) Chard United Reserves visited Venlake and suffered a 5-0 defeat.

The first quarter of the game was tight, but at the drinks break, the Swallows' management team called for more attacking approach and set a goal of five shots.

By half-time, Uplyme had created eight chances and were leading 1-0, the goal coming from Ryan Smith after flicking on a lovely free-kick from Jonny Day.

After the break, Uplyme dominated the whole game through movement, shape and superior quality.

Further goals from Jonny Day – a great left-foot curler fron outside the box - matched by a right-foot left-foot double from distance from Alex Jones.

Another goal from talented youngster Oscar Sladen gave Uplyme a convincing victory.

Star performances came from Day and George Symonds.

Uplyme have another home friendly on Tuesday against Hawkchurch.

Previously, Uplyme had chalked up a 5-3 win over an experienced Waytown side.
