Teams competing in this cut-short cricket season, caused by covid-19, are now half way through the mini-league stage , organised by the Devon Cricket League, with three games played.

Nun News is offering a £125 cash prize for the batsmen who scores the most runs and the bowler who take the most wickets during the six game league programme for the clubs the Axminster and Seaton area: Seaton 1sts, Seaton 2nds, Axminster, Kilmington, Uplyme & Lyme Regis and Chardstock.

The £125 cash prize has to go the winners' home club but the individual winners will also be presented with a cheque.

Winners of the various divisions will go into the play-offs in September and it looks like Kilmington and Uplyme & Lyme Regis could well be in the mix if their performance over the first three games is an indication.

The in-form Tyler Wellman, who is a distant cousin of the former England test captain Ken Barrington, is leading the top ten batsmen having scored three consecutive centuries.

Toby Tucker (Seconds 2nds) and Tom Gooding (Kilmington) are in second and third place.

Steve Batey (Uplyme) is leading the bowling honours with nine wickets, followed by Ben Morgan, skipper of Seaton, with seven wickets and Joe Berry (Seaton, 6) and Robin Ellis (Axminster 6).

Recently we put up a Facebook competition to win Ben Stokes' book

On Fire – my story of England's summer to remember" which was won by Angela Pavey who said: "I would love to win this and give it to my Dad who is a lifetime cricket fan".
