Positive start to new season by Millwey Rise

Millwey Rise have made an impressive start to the coming season and continued an unbeaten series of friendlies, beating Crewkerne Rangers 5-1 at Cloakham on Wednesday evening.

Sam Dibling and Tom Bastin scored two apiece with Luke Thurlow also getting his name on the scoresheet.

In other friendlies, Rise drew 1-1 with Ilminster and beat Hawkchurch 6-3 and Samford Peverell 8-2.

Millwey Reserves won their opening friendly against Drimpton 3-2.

Alex Rockett, who played at Lyme Regis last season, and keeper Nathan Hoole have returned to the club with others and a number of new signings, including Reece Best and Jamie Tait, have been secured.

Devon & Exeter League matches commence on Saturday, September 19th with 122 affiliated clubs making up 11 divisions divided into east and west. Millwey 1sts will be played in Division Two East where they will come up against the reformed Axminster Reserves, making for an interesting local derby.
