Following recent reports about increased 'wear and tear' due to severe storm damage, increased footfall and coastal erosion, the charity that looks after the South West Coast Path has announced it has raised over £100,000 to help safeguard the future of the National Trail.

The South West Coast Path Association (SWCPA), which has been fundraising as part of the Every Mile Matters campaign for just under a year, hit the milestone total earlier this week.

Tickets have gone on sale for this year's Devon County Show – which is taking place at the beginning of July.

The show has been moved from its usual May slot this year, and will start on Friday, July 2 and close on Sunday, July 4. This year will be the 125th time the show has been held.

Devon's health chiefs and leaders are urging people to 'be sensible' this weekend, as social contact and mixing increases as England moves out of lockdown.

The nation moved into Step 2 of the roadmap out of lockdown on Monday, which among others saw the opening of non-essential retail, personal care premises, gyms, as well as allowing pubs and restaurants to reopen outdoors.

The number of new coronavirus cases confirmed across Devon and Cornwall last week fell again to its lowest level since early September.

A total of 163 new cases were confirmed across the two counties last week, compared to 176 the previous week – the lowest number since the week ending September 12 – with the total cases since the start of the pandemic now standing at 47,461.
