Volunteers from Beer Coastguards were kept busy last week with six callouts in three days.

The first call-out of the week came on Wednesday, April 14 at 2.21pm when it was reported that a dog had fallen over the cliff at 'Whitecliff', between Beer and Seaton.

Police are investigating after a man exposed himself to a teenage girl in Northleigh, near Colyton, on Sunday.

The incident took place near the children's play park in the village of Northleigh at about 11am on Sunday, April 18.

Seaton resident Alex Rowe and his brother-in-law Mike Milburn are gearing up for their 100-mile trek in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association this weekend.

The pair will be walking from Mike's home in Bournemouth to Alex's in Seaton on Saturday, April 24, covering 100 miles in a single stint - no stop over and carrying everything they need for the trek.

Seaton residents have expressed disgust after a seagull in the area was painted red and green.

Several residents reported sightings of what they first believed to be an "exotic bird" but it was later revealed that a seagull had been painted in bright colours.

Rapid testing for COVID-19 is now available in Seaton.

The mobile community lateral flow testing bus will be at the Seaton Tesco car park on Wednesdays from 3.30pm to 7pm and on Sundays from 9am to 12.30pm.

An avenue of trees has been planted in the Beer Head car park as a lasting memorial to all those from the village who served during the First World War.

The Memorial Avenue has been created by the Beer 2014 Group, which was formed to commemorate the centenary of the First World War and the contribution of residents of the village.

Many seals have seen on East Devon beaches over the past few years, including in Seaton in recent weeks, but the public is urged to give the animals space.

Following the government's 'roadmap' in further lifting COVID-19 restrictions on April 12, two thirds of Devon's Top Attractions have now re-opened their doors and are welcoming many visitors back to enjoy their outdoor facilities.

Although they are only partially open, with restrictions and limited capacity still in place, all of the attractions have reported a positive start in the first week of the season.
