Lyme Regis first team completed the double over old adversaries Axminster Town with a 2-0 win on Saturday.

The Seasiders beat Axminster 4-0 at home a few weeks back but the Tigers put up a much stronger defence for the return fixture. Lyme are pushing for a fourth spot in the Devon and Exeter Premier division, but Axe have little to play for other than pride.

Pen Mill Under 13s 1,

Axminster Town Under 13s 2 The young Tigers booked their place into the semi-finals of the Yeovil Youth League Division One cup against a strong Pen Mill side. With both Tigers' main keepers out injured on the morning of the game George Manning was called on to go between the sticks. Again Axe started the first half second to the ball went behind not long before half time with a long through ball to the opposing quick striker who latched onto it then rounded the keeper to score. Going into the second half Axminster woke up and battled much harder, winning first and second ball to put Pen Mill on the back foot. This eventually resulted in Axe getting a goal back through Theo Dibling who latched onto a through pass to round the keeper and slot home. With eight mins remaining the Tigers scored the winner with Fin Jenkin superbly attacking an excellent Alex Graves corner to smash the ball in from close range. The man-of-the-match award went to Alex Graves. The Tigers held on to go through to the semi-finals with a home tie to be played tomorrow (Thursday) 7th. The man-of-the-match award went to Alex Graves.

THE top-of-the-table clash between Perry Street Division Two leaders Drimpton and Charmouth promised to be a great display of football – and did not disappoint.

With Drimpton five points ahead of Charmouth in top spot but Charmouth with a game in hand, the Robins needed to take take points to push for the top spot.

UPLYME Reserves made their way through to another semi final after a comprehensive 6 - 2 victory over Farway Reserves.

Oscar Sladen, Brad Bowditch and a bullet header from Connor Tate were the supporting goals for an excellent hat-trick from man-of-the-match Joe Urquhart, which included a brilliant volley after controlling a Nate Gillan cross on his chest whilst on the run.

Tigers find their shooting boots

After a couple of lack-lustre results, Axminster Town rediscovered their shooting boots last evening (Tuesday) when they slammed six goals past South West Peninsular Premier East basement-boys Stoke Gabriel and Torbay Police.

The 6-0 victory saw Axminster move up the division into seventh position, one point ahead of Cullompton Rangers.

Poor discipline crippling Tigers

Poor discipline on the pitch continues to plague Axminster Town. They currently have four players suspended and at the end of their midweek 3-0 defeat at home to Brixham another player was red carded.

Coupled with injuries, the loss of four key players is making life very difficult for manager Dan Prettejohn who has only been able to name a 12-man squad for the last two games.
