WITH no first team fixture, Lyme Regis Reserves were able to field a stronger side than of late in their Devon and Exeter Division Three encounter with Honiton Town 2nds.

With Lyme in fourth position in the table and the Hippos' second string experiencing an indifferent season, having lost five of their opening ten games, three points were very much on the cards for the Seasiders.

Tough start for young Tigers

Axminster Town Under 13s 2,

Chard Town Under 13s 1 In their first Division One game of the season, the Tigers came up against a rejuvenated Chard team who defended superbly and gave the Axminster lads a tough game. After 20 minutes the Tigers went a goal down with the opposing striker poking the ball over the helpless Cian Murdy to take the lead. Axe kept playing some good football but couldn't get that final finishing shot away after hitting the bar and missing the open goal from the rebound. But just before half-time Theo Dibling showed great skill and pace before smashing the ball home from an angle in into the back of the net to make it 1-1 at half time. Going into the second half the Tigers dominated possession but were met with some solid defending on the line and blocked shots as they struggled to find a way through. With 15 minutes remaining substitute Theo Hewitt beat two defenders superbly before pulling the ball back for Theo Dibling to slot the ball home for the winner. Man-of-the-match was Theo Dibling.

LYME Regis 1st team's woes continued with yet another 4-3 defeat at Kentisbeare, one of the top four clubs in the Devon and Exeter League Premier Division.

Once again the Seasiders failed to hang onto a lead and then conceded late goals in their fifth league defeat of the season.

Axminster Town regained the East Devon bragging rights in a hard-fought local derby against Honiton Town before a crowd of 209 at Tiger Way last night (Wednesday).

The Tigers lost 2-1 at Honiton early in the season and after drawing 0-0 in another local derby with Sidmouth Town, they were determined to emerge as victors in this return fixture which was postponed due to heavy rain a few weeks ago.

UPLYME 1sts' game was cancelled at short notice at the weekend, meaning the Reserves' away match to Merriott was the only game for the club.

"It gave me the opportunity to send a mixed squad and give the very young players a chance to benefit from a spine of experienced lads." said manager Steve Gillan.
