Millwey Rise 1st X1 1, Feniton 2nd X1 1

Millwey Rise - with several senior players missing yet again - started the game on the attack and but for a Feniton free-kick were rarely under any early pressure.

Sam Dibling came close when his firmly- struck shot rattled the visitors crossbar. Tom Bastin then curled a long range effort just round the post leaving the keeper flatfooted.

On 20 minutes Jason Hoole in the Millwey goal was called into action to make a fantastic save and turned a goal-bound shot around the post.

Five minutes later Feniton squandered a golden opportunity to go ahead from close range. Dibling then showed how it should be done scoring direct from a free kick.

Bastin had another effort saved while keeper Hoole made another fine save in the final minutes of the half to maintain Millwey's lead.

Feniton began the second period in a different frame of mind and poised more problems for the Rise defence but again were guilty of not taking the opportunities they created.

Bastin nearly made them pay for their prolificacy when his header was gratefully grasped by Feniton's keeper.

Ty Allen was booked for a tackle on the edge of Millwey's penalty area but the ensuing free-kick was cleared.

Pete Smith came on to replace Haydn Lewis. The visitors were now piling on the pressure and but for a great last ditch tackle from Zak Meaker would surely have scored.

Rise kept plugging away but more and more were forced onto the backfoot and to be fair it came as no surprise when Feniton scored the equaliser in the final minutes.

Further excitement came when Millwey's Zak Meaker fired the ball past the visitors keeper seconds before the full-time whistle only to be given offside and the goal ruled out.

Tom Bastin as usual never stopped running at the visitor's defence. Zak Meaker broke down several threatening attacks. Jason Hoole again proved inspirational between the sticks, though man-of-the-match has to go to Sam Dibling, who not only scored but hit the bar and skilfully commanded Millwey's midfield.

Millwey, now sitting in eighth placed in the Devon & Exeter League Division Two East, are away to Exeter United 1st next Saturday (October 24th, kick-off 2pm).

Bradninch 2nd X1 4,Millwey Rise 2nd X1 3

"Not the greatest game of football one will see" was one description of this game. Millwey went ahead in the opening minutes through Jack Bennett but Bradninch came back to score two before half-time.

In the second period Rise drew level from the penalty spot but then shipped two more goals before the returning Matty Hall scored their third.

Millwey welcome Bradninch to Cloakham next week for the return match (kick-off 3pm).
