Uplyme 1sts made it six wins out of six to finish the season in style at home to Bickleigh.
The 5 - 3 win saw Uplyme play their usual controlled game against a young, talented opposition. Even losing Cody Bowditch to a shoulder injury didn't affect the passing game that has seen Uplyme score 32 in the past six games.
Daley Holmes and Fin McLean added to their tallies with well-taken goals, but a hat-trick from skipper Wes Holmes crowned a solid performance. His penalty, 25-yard strike and side-foot volley combination took him to joint-top scorer with Bowditch on 15 goals in an excellent season.
"Venlake has seen some great goals, this season, with some brilliant performances." said manager Steve Gillan. "We've built a great atmosphere on and off the pitch. Today, it was the effort of Daley, Fin and Wes that we'll talk about, but Jonnie Harris at right back was outstanding in his reading of the game and quiet determination to get forward and support the play.
"We've scored almost 90 goals and conceded less than 30, which has been incredible considering we've only had the brilliant Joe Cleere for a handful of games and, instead, James Beddows and Alex Jones have been stand-in keepers. We've shown what we can do this season when we beat the best team in this league and so let's see who stays and who joins us for another adventure next season."
