Axminster Town Under 18s 0, Bishops Lydeard 9
This was a very difficult night for the newly formed Tigers against a very well drilled side.
Axe went into the first half looking to keep it tight and started well, creating a half chance with Owen Dibling just hitting it over the bar.
On the half hour mark the Tigers conceded a couple of goals to go in at half time trailing 2-0 but still in the game. Unfortunately, they conceded three quick goals not long after half-time which took its toll and they tired quickly.
With six players unavailable, the Tigerslooked a shadow of the team that played the week before and continued to ship goes. All credit to Lydeard who played very good football and dominated the second half. Axminster's man-of-the-match went to Ben Fox for his never-give-up attitude.
Tonight (Wednesday) the Tigers are away to away to Chard where they hope to be more competitive in this very tough development season for these young lads.
Castle Cary Under 14s 3, Axminster Town Under 14s 3
The young Tigers travelled the hour journey to play a spirited Cary team on a difficult pitch.
The opening ten minutes saw Axe dominate and creating good chances but they failed to capitalise. This ended up costing the visitors as the home team won a flick-on before rifling the ball into the bottom corner.
This fired up the Cary team and but yet again the Tigers were hesitant in clearing the ball which allowed the striker to lob Cian Murdy in goal to go 2-0 down. Just before half-time Axe got back into the game with good link-up play between Theo Diblin and Flynn Hartford, bringing the game back to 2-2 with them both getting a goal after assisting each other .
In the second half the emphasis was on being more direct as it was difficult to play on the bumpy pitch. It was Hartford again who whipped in a magnificent cross from the left to his strike partner Dibling who confidently knocked it home to hive Tigers the 3-2 advantage.
More chances came and went with Alex Dixon through on goal to be denied by the excellent home keeper. Going into the last 10 minutes Cian Murdy pulled of two excellent saves but again it was Castle Cary who got the equaliser with a great goal.
Axminster pushed We push for the winner, hitting the bar then a goal mouth scramble didn't quite squeeze it in. Man-of-the-match went to Cian Murdy who didn't put a foot wrong.
The Under 14s are looking for more players. Anyone interested should contact manager Sam Dibling on 07387 263438.
