UPLYME were hit by flurry of injuries and unavailability stretched both teams to the max on Saturday.

The Swallows had two debutant teenage goalkeepers and the experience of their opponents other teams showed.

The Swallows first team lost 3 - 0 away to Forton Rangers after missing a hatful of chances and were punished by the long-ball tactics which they failed to cope with.

Uplyme Reserves went 2 - 0 down in minutes home to Perry Street but fought back to 2 - 2, only to lose the physical battle and come out 6 - 2 losers. The Uplyme goals were scored by Oli Alner and James Beddows.

This coming Saturday Uplyme 1sts are at home to Donyatt United (kick-off 2.30 pm) and the Reserves are away to Thorncombe.

After such a good start to the season, manager Steve Gillan will be looking for a better performance, saying: "Lots to take on board for next week where we need a good response."
