Axminster Reserves, back in the Devon & Exeter League, sent a resounding message to other Division Two East teams, in their opening match of the season – ten goals and it could have been more without conceding. The Tigers are back!

A hat-trick from Ryan Vickery, one from Sam Winslade and Jon Lambert and a brace from Jamie Girton sent Tigers in at half time with a seven goal lead in a storming 45 minutes that could have seen even more goals.

A smaller pitch made movement slightly easier to track so Axminster who were unable to get up a head of steam with a five-yard passing game. But they continued to dominate, having all the ball.

Another strike from Winslade added to a goal from Charlie Wilson and with changes made from bench, the scoring was completed in the 65th minute with a strike from Mark Tucker.

Manager Dan Prettijohn said afterwards: "The game became flat which is something we have to work on .

"With performance still having room to improve, it's now on to local derby and a completely different test from Millwey Rise next Saturday (September 26th).

Prettijohn named named Jon Lambert as his man-of-the-match.
