Axminster Town, after three league defeats on the trot, bounced back with a much improved performance in the FA Vase against fellow South West Peninsular league opponents Launceston on Saturday, winning 4-0.

The Tigers will now meet Toolstation Western League side Clevedon in the next round on October 10th.

The Axminster goals came from Marcus Fanson (2) and two of the youngest players on the pitch, Reece McCabe, who won the man-of-the-match award ,and 17-year-old Jack Godfrey, his first goal for the club.

Manager Josh Stunnell was delighted that his side had raised their game after a poor start to the season but admitted that Launceston, who are bottom of the Premier West division, having lost their first five games, had "a bad day at the office".

Last night (Wednesday) the Tiger lost 3-1 away to Sidmouth Town, a defeat which leaves them four places above the South West Peninsular Premier East Division with three points from five games.

On Saturday (September 26th) the Tigers are away to Torpoint Athletic who have won all three of their league games.
