Colyton got their new season off to a storming start with a 3-0 win over close rivals Lyme Regis on Monday evening. 

 Both teams are expected to be among the frontrunners in the Devon and Exeter League Premier division now that last year's champions Lapford have withdrawn and Thorverton and Beer Albion have joined the dizzy heights of the Devon League.

 Colyton looked like they might be champion contenders on this display but Lyme , who finished in fifth place last season, were well off the pace.

 The Seasiders could not cope with the speed of the Tanners' attack and were led a merry dance in the first half by youngster Billy Knox. 

 Colyton went in at half-time with a 2-0 lead, their goals coming from Charlie Bye and man-of-the-match Knox. Lyme did have their chances, hitting the woodwork three times and squandering two cast-iron heading chances.

 The visitors got their act together in the second half, dominating play for a long period before William Sydenham completed the 3-0 scoreline.

Lyme have now gone six games in the Devon and Exeter Premier division without a win at Colyton and it was the first time in 40 games that the Seasiders had not scored a goal.

 Colyton Reserves got their 2022-23 campaign off the ground last evening (Wednesday) losing 4-0 to Uplyme in Division Four.

 On Saturday, Colyton first team are away to Premier joint leaders Crediton United 2nds and Colyton Reserves are at home to Sidmouth Town 3rds who will also be looking for their first win of the season.
