Devon Cup
Mayflower Rangers 0, Axminster Town Under 13s 7 The Tigers progressed to the next round of the Devon Cup after a great team performance against Plymouth side Mayflower, played at the Devon FA headquarters on the new 3G pitch. In a tight first half, Axe had good possession, trying to break through a resilient defence only to be denied time and time again. The breakthrough came with a quick one-two and finish from Theo Dibling to open up the scoring, followed by a Ruben Baulch long-range strike fumbled in by the keeper to make it 2-0 at half-time. A few changes from the five substitutes kept the team fresh and wore down the home team with some good football being played. Flynn Hartford's superb work rate beat two and his cross into the danger area was turned into the net by the defending player to make it 3-0. Super-sub Edd Sherman came on up top and did exactly what was asked of him, putting himself about to score the next two goals. Alex Graves then had another 30-yard free-kick banged in to make it 6-0. In the dying minutes Noa Bailey finished of a slick move to make it 7-0 and game over. Man-of-the-match went to super-sub Edd Sherman who had his best game in a Tigers' shirt. Special mention also goes to close contenders Isaac Poole and George Manning who didn't put a foot wrong all game at full- back. Next week the Under 13s meet Crewkerne away in the last play-off league game. .Share:
