A DIVISION

Seaton at last rediscovered some form with a five-wicket victory over fellow strugglers Budleigh Salterton, providing them with the opportunity to kick-on in the second half of the season and move out of the danger zone in Division A.

Twenty points from this win still leaves them in a precarious position on 80 points, but this was their best performance of the season and could provide them with the confidence to climb the table.

Seaton won the toss and put the home team into bat, but they found the visiting attack in uncompromising form, bowling them out for 164 in 47 overs. They bowled tightly throughout with Robbie Prior doing the most damage, finishing with figures of 3 for 30 off nine overs. Joel Seward and Raoul East also grabbed themselves a couple of wickets each in very tight spells.

Despite losing an early wicket, the Seaton batsmen soon got some runs on the board and with good knocks from Joel Seward (56) and Ben Morgan (41), they coasted to a winning score and a much needed 20-point victory, losing five wickets on the way.

Budleigh Salterton 5 points, Seaton 20 points.

B DIVISION

Kilmington retained their position at the top of B Division despite picking up only five points at Heathcoat.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat, setting a target of 179, losing nine wickets in the process.

Top bowler for Kilmington was Tom Gooding with excellent figures of 3 for 17 off seven overs.

In reply, Kilmington struggled to put runs on the board, with the exception of Ian Gooding (72), and were dismissed for 129.

D DIVISION EAST

Uplyme and Lyme Regis have fallen further behind in their bid to win Division East after being well beaten at North Devon.

They lost by 201 runs, a defeat which sees them drop into third place after leading the table in the opening matches of the season, trailing the leaders, Alphington and Countess Wear, by 24 points.

In a game not played in the best traditions of cricket, the home team won the toss and elected to bat, running up an impressive total off 358-4 off the 45 overs, the majority of runs coming from their number three and four batsmen, Reuben Windley and Joe Kelly, who both scored centuries.

On the bowling front, Uplyme's Jack Lamb-Wilson grabbed two of the wickets at the expense of 66 runs off eight overs.

In reply, Uplyme fell well short, being bowled out for 157 runs with only Joe Elsworth pitting up any real resistance with a fine knock of 56.

North Devon 20 points, Uplyme & Lyme Regis 5 points

Chardstock chalked up their fourth victory of the season against Kentisbeare in a match dominated by skipper Robbie Hutchings, as has happened so many times before.

Having won the toss, the visitors found Hutchings in great form with the ball, finishing with figures of 5 for 27 off nine overs, and they were all out for 244.

Chardstock batsmen more than rose to the challenge with skipper Hutchings hitting a glorious 137 not out in their winning total, achieved with only five wickets lost. Hutchings' innings include 21 fours and two sixes and he received good support from opener James Hayden (58).

E DIVISION EAST

Axminster Town are still looking for their first victory of the season after losing by 146 runs at Honiton. It leaves them firmly entrenched at the foot of the table, 32 points behind their nearest rival, with the season half completed.

Honiton won the toss and elected to bat and posted 289-9, thanks mainly to openers Dave Haysom (116) and Andrew Lapping 67. Haysom's century was hit off 115 balls and included nine fours.

Axminster bowlers stuck to their task with Benjamin Webb returning the best figures of 4-38 off six overs.

In reply, Axminster were dismissed for 143 in 34 overs, Benjamin Webb (51) being the only batsmen to really test the bowlers.

Honiton 20 points, Axminster Town 7 points.

F DIVISION EAST

In a low scoring match, Seaton 2nd X1fell short by ten runs at home to Braunton.

Batting first, the visitors were bowled out for 167 runs with Toby Tucker (3 for 40) finishing with the best figures.

In reply, Seaton were dismissed for 167 in 39 overs, John Oldfield top scoring on 36.

Seaton 2nd X1 8 points, Braunton 18 points.

G DIVISION EAST

Kilmington 2nd X1 kept in touch with the league leaders with a 51-run home victory over Cheriton Fitzpaine.

Kilmington batted first and set the visitors a challenging 282 to chase, the highlight of which was an impressive innings from Alex Rockett who fell short of a century by just three runs.

In reply, Cheriton were dismissed for 231 with Oliver Lowe claiming the bowling honours with figures of 3 for 59.

Kilmington 2nd X1 19 points, Cheriton Fitzpaine 8 points.

H DIVISION EAST

Still looking for their first victory, Axminster Town 2nd X1 were sent packing after scoring 110 runs, losing by five wickets to Culmstock.

Mark Enticott (24), James Herbert (23) and Dyland Burrough (25) were the only batsmen to put up any real resistance.

Culmstock knocked off the winning runs for the loss of five wickets, four of which were taken by Dave Hayball in a useful eight-over spell.
