East Devon Bash T20 – Week 3
In-form batsmen Tyler Wellman blasted 112 off 53 balls in Uplyme Muffin Men's 185-run victory over Sidbury in week three of the fledgling East Devon Bash T20 competition.
Uplyme won the toss and elected to bat. Wellman, who last season hit three consecutive centuries in the Devon Cricket League, a feat unheard of in local cricket, opened the innings and hit 14 fours and seven sixes in Uplyme's 282-4. Joe Elsworth (47) and Sam Farrow (42) added useful contributions.
Charlie Roberts got Wellman's wicket in the end – but at a cost. He got smashed for 58 off just four overs. It was a difficult evening for the home attack with all six bowlers being punished by Wellman's masterclass in aggressive batting.
In reply, Sidbury were dismissed for 97 in 19 overs.
Seaton Pirates proved too strong for the Honiton Hawks, winning by 132 runs.
Seaton won the toss and decided to bat and although opening Matthew Hewer went early, the next four batsmen in all contributed useful scores in a total of 191-5. Joel Seward (57) and Daley Holmes (50) were the top scorers.
Adam Holmes was the pick of the Honiton bowlers, claiming two wickers (one a caught and bowled) for the loss of 46 runs.
In reply, Honiton were skittled out for just 59 runs in 17 overs, Adam Holmes top scoring on 20.
