Axe Cliff Ladies entertained a team from Bridport Golf Club last week at home and won the match 4.5 vs 1.5. It was very friendly as these inter club matches always are. The Ladies from Bridport were very complimentary about the Axe Cliff Course and also especially about the home-made tea and cakes provided by ourLadies in the clubhouse after the match. Our Captain of the day was Karin Cox.

The Seniors have been busy lately. Firstly winning an inter-club match, at home, against a strong team from Honiton 4.5 vs 1.5. but lost their away Emerton Court match at Exeter Golf & Country Club so sadly will not proceed into round two despite their good home win. Stuart Mackie retained his Knockout Cup in a close final. Last Friday they held their first round of the gruelling Masters Trophy played over four Rounds in medal format just like the professional Classic at Augusta.

Nigel Pritchard won with a very good nett 69 but only on countback from Captain Steve Thompson. Paul Curtin was third with a 70. Can they keep it up ?

The Men's section on Sunday in glorious weather, played their June Medal. Brad Burraston took top spot Division One with a net 72, Seaton Postie Paul Clode was second with 76, leaving John Gait taking third place with 77. Division Two players were on fire with the first three all getting nett 66s. Separating them on countback left Simon Sweetland in first place, followed by Andy Trivett and Andy Gabb respectively.

Mashers Roll Up saw Mike Chadwick playing out of his socks ,winning with an amazing 42 points from that man Paul Clode again on 35 points and Brian Waller, also on 35 points but beaten on countback.

*My picture below shows top cake makers, Captain Stella Thompson (first left) and Pauline Willis (last right)with their Bridport opponents in between all deciding what club to take on the infamous 16th hole which is some 45 degrees down from the ridge overlooking Seaton Bay. They won that hole but went onto to lose their game on the 18th after a cracking battle.
