FORGET the European Super League, if you were looking for entertaining football you would be hard pushed to match Saturday's encounter at Drimpton.

Uplyme started strongly, with good possession, playing their passing game, Fin McLean and Harry Robson pulling the strings, Marcus Symonds and Oscar Sladen stretching the play wide and Alex Jones making a nuisance of himself up top.

The breakthrough came from a keeper error. Trying to play out of defence, he gifted the ball to Sladen to calmly stroke home. A second followed after Jones, following a mazy run, smashed a shot against the post, Symonds turning on the rebound to clinically finish.

Playing down the slope in the second half, Drimpton upped their game and got a goal back. The game got a bit ragged at this point and Drimpton equalised from the spot when McLean was harshly adjudged to have handled the ball.

The Swallows lead was restored when Sladen tapped home after some great play from Symonds. Drimpton's keeper pulled off some great saves, most memorable a fine double save from Symonds. More Drimpton pressure resulted in an equaliser, before with seconds to go a move on the counter freed Symonds up on the left who beat the keeper at the near post to earn a well deserved victory.

With a few enforced changes due to unavailability and shuffling players between the two squads, the benefits of our whole club ethos shone through in the seamless way that the team performed despite the changes. The man-of-the-match  goes to Marcus Symonds for his constant threat and two goals. A combination of the keeper and the woodwork stopped it being at least four.
