Perry Street Spring Series 2020-21

Netherbury 1, Uplyme 2

COMING into their last fixture of the season, an aiming to complete the Spring Series unbeaten, Uplyme were again forced into a few changes in line up with injuries and the start of the cricket season impacting on team selection.

With skipper Jonnie Harris moving to a centre-back role alongside George Symonds and a midfield trio of Fin McLean, Ben Prosser and Jonny Day, a welcome return for Dan Prendeville in attack paid dividends when he cut in from the left to put the Swallows infront mid-way through the first half.

Dominating play, Uplyme pressed hard but didn't get the rewards they deserved. An injury to Nate Gillan led to manager Steve Gillan coming on as a sub and it was from his direct free-kick that Prosser followed in to make it 2-0.

Netherbury pressed a bit harder after the break and managed to pull one back with a speculative lob over a stranded James Beddows.

Unfazed, Uplyme saw out the rest of the half comfortably, and really should have at least doubled their tally, missing many chances.

This was a great way for the Firsts to finish the season. As always the commitment, attitude and style of play was excellent, epitomised by Jonnie Harris who got the man-of-the-match vote.
