Tigers fail in penalty shoot-out to win cup final place

Axminster Town's bid for cup glory ended in disappointment last night when they lost a penalty shoot-out to Okehampton Argyle in the semi-final off the Walter C Parsons trophy.

The score was 1-1 after extra-time before a crowd of 138, including a coach load from Axminster, at the Newton Abbot Recreational Trust ground with Axminster's goals coming from Richard Hebditch. In the penalty shoot-out, however, Argyle booked a place in the final, netting four spot-kicks to the Tigers;' one.

It turned out to be a very entertaining with little between the two sides.

Axminster now turn their attention to retaining their fifth place in the South West Peninsular Premier East division with an away trip to Teignmouth AFC on Saturday followed by another away fixture at Torrington on Wednesday, April 26.
