LYME Regis 1sts rotated their squad from the last clash against Devon & Exeter Premier East division leaders Feniton which, ended in 2-2 draw, with Joe bond, Dan Rendall, Kingsley Wellman and Mark Bailey dropping to the bench.
In came Brad Rowe, fit again, Ben Vine, Tom Bastin and Rikki Sargent, a tactic which seemed to pay immediate dividends as Lyme dominated the early exchanges, testing the Feniton goalkeeper early on.
Brad Rowe, one of the inclusions, produced a moment of class with a sharp first touch, turn and volley in the tenth minute.
The action settled into an even and fast-flowing game with both teams looking dangerous and it was Feniton who drew level in the 30th minute in controversial circumstances.
The Feniton centre forward controlled the ball with his arm and realising his mistake speculatively smashed the ball home from 25 yards. Everyone, including the Feniton striker, expected the goal to be chalked off. There was no celebration from the goal-scorer, but bizarrely the ref awarded the goal to level the score at 1-1.
Feniton took the lead with a great goal from a counter-attack in the 60th minute, but the game was far from over as Lyme rallied and created some big chances without capitalising on them.
Within ten minutes later the Seasiders were back on level terms when Fred Parsons produced a sublime nutmeg on the Feniton centre-half before rolling the ball past the goalkeeper.
At this point the game really opened up and Brett Garner made some fine saves as Feniton threatened to catch Lyme on the counter. Lyme were creating chance after chance and looked to have earner a penalty in the 80th minute only for the ref to give a free-kick in the edge of the area stating the first contact had happened outside the box.
Lyme continued to push and in the 92nd minute got their deserved reward when Fellingham got forward in a rare burst and lay-off for Dan Rendall to finish into the corner to scenes of wild celebration.
Lyme's management duo of Julien Simier and Mark Batey were full of praise for the team's all-round performance, saying: "It was a fantastic performance against much-fancied opposition and probably most impressive is the squad depth and the way all the subs reacted well and had big impacts on the game when needed."
