A 4-0 defeat at Elmore 2nds last evening (Wednesday) resulted in Lyme Regis 1sts missing out on the chance of finishing in fifth place in the Devon and Exeter League Premier division.

Lyme fielded a weakened side against the Tiverton side who moved into the runners-up spot in the table behind champions Alphington 1sts. Elmore have three more games to play and will definitely finish in second place.

The Seasiders have the chance of claiming sixth position if they beat fourth placed Kentisbeare at the Davey Fort in their last match of the current season on Saturday (kick-off 3pm). They need three points to jump above Sidmouth Town 2nds.

This has been a frustrating season for the Seasiders, plagued with injuries and unavailabilities, struggling to field two sides on a number of occasions. It has been a particularly difficult season for Lyme Reserves who finished second from bottom in Division Three and are likely to be relegated.

Division Four will probably suit the Reserves better as all but one team in Division Three is a first team and all but one (Seaton Town) is located the other side of Exeter. 

Local rivals Uplyme 1stsplay in Division Four, having been promoted two divisions after last season's good run in Division Six, finishing in a creditable mid-table position. Lyme Reserves v Uplyme would be a very tasty fixture indeed for on the field of play there is little love between the two sides, as demonstrated when the two have clashed in the Bass Bottle pre-season matches. 

The Seasiders are now looking to appoint two new managers for next season. Acting first team player manager Robbie Fellingham and Reserves' manager Wallace Blackmore are both standing down for personal reasons.
