Uplyme 1sts travelled to Dawlish 2nds and played out an entertaining 0 - 0 draw, with some excellent chances falling to the hard working Ollie Alner which might have delivered all three points.
The Uplyme squad was stretched thin due to many regulars being unavailable, but the starting 11 played their solid brand of football to limit Dawlish to just a couple of chances in the first half.
Todd Charles made an excellent point-blank save to keep a clean sheet on his debut in goal.
Manager Steve Gillan was very happy with the performance, saying:m "After scoring four away from home and still losing last week, we really wanted to be tighter this week.
"Connor Tate was outstanding at the back for us and the skipper Fin Mclean covered so much ground. The team ethic was terrific, especially when we were hit with three quick injuries in the second half, meaning the two managers needed to come on with a combined age of 105!
"Rikky Toyer and Jonnie H worked so hard to close down any space for their talented front line. We always expect a tough game at this level, as we have climbed two divisions.
"It also seems we have played almost half the Premier Division's Dawlish 1st team, as their game against Lyme Regis was called off and there's plenty of their names on the teamsheet. I find that a little frustrating, but that reflects even better on the scoreline."
