Lyme Regis first team were due to meet Devon and Exeter Premier opponents Dawlish United at the Davey Fort on Saturday – but the South Devon club called off the game less than three hours before kick-off.
The Seasiders have a good record against Dawlish, never having lost to them at home, and manager Julien Simier was looking for his side to deliver their first league points following a good performance against Kentisbeare in which they won 5-0 in the first round of the East Devon Senior Cup.
Dawlish said they were unable to raise a side, although they fielded a Reserve team at home to Uplyme in which, it has been alleged, there were several first teamers.
The Lyme secretary Robert Thom will be speaking to the league about whether the Seasiders will get the three points or whether the fixture will be rescheduled.
*Matt Preece has stood down as manager of Lyme Regis Reserves for personal reasons. His place has been taken by Wally Blackmore, one of Lyme's longest serving players. Dec Ellis will continue as assistant manager.
The Seasiders second string travelled to Division Three leaders Witheridge last Saturday and came away with a creditable 1-1 draw, their goal coming from Josh Rawlins.
