Colyton 1sts' good run of form which propelled then unto the top four of the Devon and Exeter Premier division ran out when they were beaten 4-0 by league favourites Alphington.
Colyton were trailing 3-0 at half-time but managed to restrict. Alphington to just one more goal after the break. Their man-of-the-match was Matthew Berry.
Before the game a minute's silence was observed in memory of Barry Foxwell, a member of the Tanners' very successful team of the 1960s and lifelong supporter who died recently. Several tributes were paid to him on social media. one posting describing him as "a legend".
In Division Four Colyton 2nd X1 were beaten 10-0 by a strong University of Exeter 6th X1.
This coming Saturday, Colyton 1sts are at home to struggling Dawlish United who have only won two games all season. Colyton Reserves are at home to Cullompton Rangers 2nds who sit three places below them in Division Four (kick-off 3pm).
