With Dawlish United struggling at the foot of the Devon and Exeter League Premier division fourth place Colyton were expected to have returned home with three more points in the bag.
But there are no easy games in the Premier devision and the Tanners had to be satisfied with one point from the 1-1 draw, their goal coming from Ross Broom and an excellent performance by Charlie Cross who won Colyton's man-of-the-match award.
Colyton keep their fourth place but only on goal average as close rivals Lyme Regis beat Sandford 2-1 to draw even on points and the Seasiders have two games in hand.
In Division Four, Colyton Reseves were beat 5-1 at Cullompton Rangers, their goal coming from Kian Bedwell. Man-of-the-match for Colyton was Bobby Henderson.
This coming Saturday Colyton 1sts are away to Sidmouth Town 2nds, who are eighth in the table. Colyton Reserves are at home to Cullompton Rangers 2nds in Division Four (kick-off 3pm).
