Axminster Town came away from Torpoint Athletic, second in the South West Peninsular League, with a 4-4 draw, which on reflection was a point well won.

With Ottery St Mary beating Crediton 2-1, the Tigers drop a place to fourth in the table.

After being 1-0 down in the first ten minutes, Axminster managed to get an equaliser through Josh Wadham.

Shortly afterwards, it turned into the Charlie Wilson show when he scored two in quick succession with the second being the pick of the bunch.

Torpoint managed to get a goal back just before half-time. Despite Torpoint coming out strongly after the break, Charlie Wilson scored his third goal to make it 4-2 to Axe. Torpoint moved up a gear and stormed back with two goals to make it 4-4.

Jamie Price and Brad Loaring defended well but Wilson was named as man-of-the-match for his hat-trick. Unfortunately, Tom Olive went off injured.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) the Tigers are away to Ottery St Mary (kick-off 7.30 pm) in the Walter Parsons Cup.

Axminster Reserves drew 1-1 at home to Elmore Reserves, their goal coming from Nathan Warren.Goalkeeper Jack Trevisick was named man-of-the-match for an excellent performance. On Saturday the Reserves are at home to fourth placed Kentisbeare in the Devon and Exeter Premier Division (kick-off 3 pm).
