Uplyme 1st hosted Devon Yeoman 2nds, with the home side slamming seen past them without reply.

Cody Bowditch opened the scoring after a brilliant through ball from Daley Holmes, really reflecting the great connection they are developing. Bowditch could have had another hat-trick in the first five minutes if it wasn't for the keeper's excellent reactions.

After ten brilliant minutes, Uplyme were 4-0 up and the stunned Yeoman had nothing in reply.

Jonny Day completed an excellent hat-trick within 30 minutess, when a speculative drive went under the goalkeeper.

Skipper Wes Holmes tucked away a neat penalty, Bowditch scored from a deceptive free-kick and Oscar Sladen completed the scoring with a deft back heel after a scramble from a corner.

Manager Steve Gillan said: "The game was over after ten minutes and we played some brilliant football. First half, we were unstoppable. Huge credit to The Yeoman who worked really hard in the second half to keep the score down. Jonny Day and Daley were great, today, and I was delighted with a clean sheet for young Bayley Alner.

"We have a big game coming up against Okehampton who have very strong results, so far. It'll be a good test of our squad, which has been affected over the summer. With our best 11, we'll give any team a good game."

Uplyme Reserves' opening game in the Perry Street League season has to wait due to Perry Street cancelling.
