Axminster Town Reserves end season with an away victory

Axminster Town Reserves completed their season's fixtures last evening (Wednesday) with a 3-1 victory over Elmore 2nds in the Premier division of the Devon and Exeter League.

The Tigers' goals came from Sam Dibling, making a rare appearance for his home club, Joe Chamberlain and Tyler Allen.

This was the Tigers' second string's first season back in the Premier division following the reforming of the Reserves side, thought necessary to bridge the gap between the Devon and Exeter League and the South West Peninsular League in which the Axminster first team compete, ending in sixth place, their best ever placing.

The Reserves finished in ninth place out of 13 teams, having won seven of their 24 .games

Reserves' manager Jamie Barefoot has stepped down and the club is currently looking for a replacement. There have been no takers as yet which prompted outgoing chairman Andy Hurford to express his disappointed pn social media that no former player had come forward to fill the vacancy.

Barefoot will be continuing in his role as groundsman at Tiger Way but wants to concentrate on paying next season.
