A Division

Seaton's challenging season continued with a disappointing performance away to Plympton where they were beaten by eight wickets.

In perfect conditions, Seaton captain Ben Morgan won the toss and decided to bat. Opener Josh Cann was sent back to the clubhouse with just 14 runs on the board. His partner, Matthew Hewer, went on to make 33, but Tristan Wakely and Joel Seward went cheaply before Daley Holmes hit a spirited 33 in Seaton's total of 164-8 off the 50 overs.

Plympton openers were in fine form with the bat, putting on 101 for the first wicket, and only took 20 overs with the loss of two wickets posting their winning total of 166.

Joe Berry and Daley Holmes claimed the two wickets taken by Seaton's five-man attack.

Seaton now find themselves third from bottom of the division with just one victory in seven games.

Plympton 19 points, Seaton 4 points

B Division

Kilmington maintained their top spot with a fine batting display at Dartington and Totnes, the highlight of which was a swashbuckling 107 off 66 balls from number four Billy Read, an innings which included 15 fours and five sixes.

Opener Josh Short also had a fruitful afternoon, hitting 65 before being caught and bowled, and 40 useful runs came from Matt Rocket, setting Dartington a target of 388.

The home side were never in contention with the bat and were skittled out for 87 in 22 overs.

Star bowler for Kilmington was Oliver Reed, who returned the impressive figures of 6 for 16 off 6.5 overs with Robert Crabb also grabbing three victims for the loss of 16 runs.

Kilmington have now opened a lead of seven points over second placed Bideford, Littleham and Westward Ho.

D Division East

UPLYME and Lyme Regis' brilliant start to the season came to an abrupt halt when they were beaten by 91 runs by division challengers Alphington and Countess Wear.

The seven points they gained from their first defeat of the season was enough to keep them in top place, but their lead over Alphington has been reduced to just two points.

Alphington won the toss and elected to bat, running up a score of 308-4 off 45 overs. The Uplyme attack failed to break a match-winning partnership of 186 between opener Matt Taylor, who carried his bat for 145, an innings which included 16 fours and fur sixes, and number three James Brogue, who also hit a century (109).

The Uplyme bowlers toiled long and hard in the heat but failed to make an impact on Alphington's top order.

In reply, Uplyme fell short by 91 runs, posting 217- 6 with opener Steve Batey top scoring on 39. The middle order all scored runs, but none of them managed to impose themselves on the home attack.

Alphington and Countess Wear 18 points, Uplyme and Lyme Regis 7 points.

Chardstock made the long journey to Barnstaple and Pilton - but it was worth the trip as they returned with 19 points from a closely-fought encounter.

The North Devon side won the toss and put Chardstock into bat. Highlight of their innings was a knock of 88 from captain Robbie Hutchings, who was well supported by Alex Watson (52) and Gary Larcombe (39), as the East Devon villagers totalled 243-7 off 45 overs.

In reply, Barnstaple ran out of overs and were 44 runs short of a winning score.

The wickets were shared across the six-man Chardstock attack with Robbie Hurchings, Alex Watson and James Rockett claiming two victims a piece.

This was Chardstock's third victory of the season and leaves them in mid-table in the division.

E Division East

Axminster Town are still looking for their first win of the season and are struggling at the foot of the division with just 34 points after seven games.

Against Budleigh Salterton 2nd X1, Axminster won the toss of elected to bat, setting their hosts a modest target of 128 all out.

Openers Andrew Guppy (50) and Jennifer Poole (25) got Town off to a good start, but few others shone with the bat and the scorecard showing five ducks.

Openers Henry Collison (110 not out ) and Mark Troman (17 not out )steered Budleigh to victory.

Budleigh Salterton 2nd X1 20 points, Axminster Town 3 points.

G Division East

Kilmington 2nd X1 secured second place in the division in a close-fought affair, winning by 19 runs at home to Alphington and Countess Wear 2nds.

Kilmington decided to bat first after winning the toss, setting their opponents a challenging 193-7. Highlight of the innings was Ben Fuzzard's 60 off 38 balls, an innings which included seven fours and three sixes. Good support with the bat also came from opener Hal Cook (58) and Ralph Cook (33).

After a good start from openers David Jarvis (49) and Al Davey (60), the visitors were bowled out for 174 in 34 overs.

Giles Dixon was Kilmington's star bowler, finishing with figures of 6 for 26 off eight overs.

Kilmington 2nd Xl 19 points, Alphington and Countess Wear 2nd X1 7 points.

H Division East

Axminster Town 2nd X1 put up a plucky performance, chasing 242, at home to Sandford 3rd X1 but went down by six wickets.

The visitors won the toss and elected to field and only lost four wickets in setting the Axminster batsmen a stiff task.

It turned out to be a bit of a one-man effort with opener Bradley Conway batting throughout the innings, hitting a magnificent 157 which included 24 boundaries. But only one other batsman managed doubles figures – Sam Beviss (17) – and Axe finished on 236 when stumps were drawn.

Axminster Town 2nd X1 7 points, Sandford 3rds X1 19 points.
