A Division

With the season a third completed, Seaton are still looking for for more consistency in the Devon Cricket League A Division.

Having won just one of the three games played (two others were cancelled by the rain), Seaton find themselves third from bottom in the table with 48 points, 28 points behind the leaders Tavistock.

Away to Torquay, Seaton were put into bat and bowled out for just 108 runs off 43 overs. The home team knocked off the runs in 17 overs to gain 20 points against Seaton's two.

For Seaton, Tristan Wakely, batting at number six, was the top scorer on 25 with Mali Marshall (20) and Daley Holmes the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

In reply, Torquay only lost one wicket and that was taken by Wes Holmes.

Torquay 20 points, Seaton 2 points.

B Division

It was a close run thing at Thorverton where leaders Kilmington came close to another victory, losing by just 11 runs in a competitive game.

Thorverton won the toss and elected to bat and got off to a reasonable start with opener Andy Pitt who scored 59, an innings that included eight fours. Dan Robbins weighed in with a useful 43 and the middle to late order all scored runs to post a total of 219 off the 45 overs.

Bowling star of the day was Matt Reed who claimed five Thorverton wickets for the loss of 39 runs off nine overs.

Kilmington started well enough with the openers putting on 65 before Tom Gooding lost his wicket on 39. Fellow opener Josh Short added 32 and then they slumped to 98-4. Tailenders Harry Johnstone (36) and Oliver Reed (31) took up the challenge but they ran out of overs 12 runs short of victory.

Kilmington maintain their position at the top of the division with a three points lead over Chudleigh.

Throverton 19 points, Kilmington10 pots.

D Division East

Uplyme and Lyme Regis's aggressive batting line-up was in fine form again where they posted 258 runs away to Feniton.

The league leaders won the toss and elected to bat in perfect conditions. Opener Mark Batey gave Uplyme a good start with a knock of 44, but on this occasion his opening partner, brother Steve, was out for just a single run, bowled by Adam David.

Joe Elswoth (18) and Tyler Wellman (44) moved the score along before captained Sam Farrow came to the wicket and tore the home attack apart with a knock of 73 off 77 balls, including four sixes. Andrew Harrison, coming in at number seven, added 44 useful runs to set up an ambitious target for Feniton to chase.

Despite a lively knock of 73 off 69 balls by opener David Thayre, a collapse by the middle order batsmen added to their difficulties, although number five John Buckland, who carried his bat for 36, did his best to narrow the gap, but to no avail as Feniton were all out for 186, losing by 72 runs.

Andrew Harrison was the pick of the Uplyme bowlers, finishing with figures of 4 for 41 off seven overs.

Uplyme retain their top spot in Division D East with a 13-point lead over Alphington and Countess Wear in second place.

Feniton 8 points, Uplyme and Lymer Regis 20 points.

Chardstock were no match at home to Sidmouth 3rd X1, losing by five wickets, having been bowled out for 124 off 37 overs.

The East Devon villagers won the toss and decided to bat, but it was not an innings that would put any fear into the Sidmouth third string. Only Alex Watson (38), Edward Brown (23) and Stuart Parris (23 not out) troubled the scorer.

Causing all the trouble with the ball for Sidmouth were Matt Crane (4 for 12 off 9 overs) and Toby Seldon (5 for 56 off nine).

Sidmouth knocked off the winning runs for the loss of five wickets with captain Tim Chapman top scoring on 40.

Chardstock 5 points, Sidmouth 3rd X1 20 points.

E Division East

Axminster Town are still looking for their first victory and a six-wicket defeat at home to Bradninch has left them at the bottom of the division with 20 points behind their nearest rival.

The home team won the toss and put Axminster into bat. Opener Andrew Guppy got off to a lively start scoring six fours in a lively knock of 26 and captain Paul Miller pushed the score along with a stylish 63, half of which came from boundaries. Benjamin Webb (26) was the only other player to find double figures and the Carpetmen finished on 182-8 off the 45 overs.

Bradninch lost only four wickets in replying with 183 off 28 overs, the highlight of which was a glorious century by Ankit Badwal.

Alex Wraight grabbed himself a couple of wickets off his six overs at a cost of 31 runs.

Bradninch 19 points, Axminster 6 points.

F Division East

Batting at number four, Toby Tucker starred with the bat for Seaton 2nd X1, scoring 79 not out in a total of 169-7 off 40 overs against Exeter 3rd X1.

The only other batsmen to trouble the scorer was opener Oliver Aplin with 43.

But it was a close affair in the end with Exeter reaching their winning score of 170 with just three balls left to bowl.

Devon Welsh starred with the ball for Seaton, finishing with the impressive figures of 5 for 21 off eight overs.

Seaton 2nd X1 8 points, Exeter 3 X1 18 points.

G Division East

Kilmington 2nd X1 are enjoying a good season, chalking up their third victory of the season with a seven-wicket victory at home to Kentisbeare leaving them in third place in the table.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat but they found the Kilmington bowlers in good form, being bowled out for 132 off 35 overs.

Mike Summers (3 for 16) and Tom Wallis (3 for 24) shared the bowling honours with Ben Noble and Giles Dixon grabbing two wickets apiece.

The Kilmington second string replied with 133-3 with Stephen Ryan top scoring on 31,

Kilmington 2nd X1 20 points, Kentisbeare 4 points..
