Live Updates: Seaton businesses react to second lockdown announcement

Seaton businesses have been sharing their reactions and thanking customers for support following the news that England will go into a second lockdown on Thursday.

The lockdown will come into force at midnight on Wednesday and will see pubs, restaurants, cafes, hairdressers and all non-essential shops closed.

Many businesses will be opening extra hours up until Wednesday or are offering special deals to get rid of stock.

The Old Picture House in Harbour Road is inviting customers to help them 'drink the bar dry', with 20% off all food and drink until closing on Wednesday night.

On their Facebook page, landlords at the Kingfisher in Colyton said: "Seven years ago today, we moved in to this great pub! We certainly didn't think then we would have to close for a total of four months during the past year.

"Until Wednesday evening we will be all day from midday till 10pm. Thank you to all our customers, friends and family, and if we don't see you before Wednesday, we will see you in December - all being well. Stay safe everyone!

Seaton Print & Design will be offering a click and collect services from Thursday via the website www.seatonprint.co.uk. They will also be continuing their printing services behind closed doors including cards, personalised calendars and gifts for Christmas.

Devon Art Supplies, Seaton's arts, crafts and hobbies shop, will continue free home delivery in the local area, as well as a click and collect service and posting orders out UK wide.

Christmas stock including a variety of creative kits for all ages and abilities are available now. Orders can be placed online at www.devonartsupplies.co.uk or by calling 01297 624246.

The Owl and Pyramid bookshop in Fore Street is open 9.30am to 5pm until Wednesday, after which books will be available to buy by messaging on Facebook or phoning, with collection or free delivery in Seaton available.

The Triptych Gallery and Picture Framing in Queen Street, Seaton, which only opened two weeks ago, will be opening extended hours this week from 10am to 6pm up until Wednesday.

A statement on their Facebook page read: "We hope that this will give you all an opportunity for some local shopping before lockdown. Please help us by spreading the word.

"We are also bringing forward the launch of our website so you will soon be able to order online for free local delivery, click and collect or via post. Watch this space. Thank you all for your continued support."

Another new business, Feast Lyme Bay, has assured customers they will remain open for takeaway wraps, mezze and fries, salad boxes and more during lockdown, open 11am to 3pm Wednesdays to Sundays.

The Shed Steakhouse & Grill will be running their takeaway hatch once again, with a new menu available on the website http://theshedsteakhouse.co.uk/. They will also be offering a delivery service for £3 or free on orders over £30.

Italian restaurant Le Pisani in Seaton will continue to offer a takeaway service during lockdown, open from 4pm to 8.30pm Tuesday to Sunday. A delivery service will also be available from November 5th. Pre-orders can be taken from 3pm by calling 01297 624338 or 07419 329 459.

Devon Appliances in Axminster will close its door on Wednesday evening and the phone will be diverted to the Seaton branch. Devon Appliances in Seaton will continue to function normally except the door will be closed. Orders can still be placed via the website www.devonapplinaces.co.uk or by calling 01297 23661 or 01297 302477.

PB Home Solutions will be continuing kitchen and bathroom installations as it is classed as construction. The showroom will be closed for appointments only and anyone wishing to discuss work should call 01297 22559 or email [email protected].

The lockdown will also hit Seaton's hair and beauty salons, with staff working flat out this week to fit in as many clients as possible before closing.

Luxy Locks salon owner Amie commented on Facebook: "It is a positive we are taking action to saves lives, but also a very upsetting stressful time so please bear with me."

Food shops have been deemed essential and will remain open during lockdown.

The recently opened Squirrel fruit and vegetable shop in Fore Street will be staying open but will be changing opening hours to allow them to also run a new click and collect service.

Click and collect slots will be available from 8.45am to 9.15am, and then again from 4.30pm to 5pm Monday to Friday, and from 8am to 8.45am on Saturdays. Orders can be placed via the website https://squirrelseaton.co.uk.
