Last Wednesday Axe Cliff Golf Club Ladies played the last round of their Axe Cliff Cup and as a medal. Whilst I cannot tell you the winner of the prestigious trophy,

Janet Dack, but the cup holders are now Barbara Cummings and Paul Curtin.

A challenging time with the weather last week but Axe Cliff Golf Club did manage to keep open and play.

What a difference a week makes to the weather. Last week was dreadful but at least Axe Cliff Golf Club stayed open after some very heavy rain.

Firstly, last Monday's Tic Toc Trophy against the Seniors and Ladies had to be abandoned as the heavy mist made it impossible to continue safely.

A small group of Axe Cliff Golf Club Ladies played a team from Sidmouth at home last Monday and continued their good form with a narrow win in this friendly match.

Another good week for Axe Cliff Golf Club ladies in a Devon Vets competition. On Monday it was the Captain's Meeting held at Stover and it was won overall by Axe Cliff captain Anne Jarvis who with 37 points was the outright winner of the prestigious Ord Cup and Caroline Bond came first in the Bronze Division with 36 points and only missed out on being runner-up to Anne on countback.

It was a close fight in good weather as Axe Cliff Golf Club Seniors competed for the Silver Salver Cup in teams of three where one score counts on holes 1-6; two on holes 7-12, leaving all three to count on the final six.

I am delighted to report that Axe Cliff Ladies have won through to the quarter-finals of the Shelagh Creasy Bowl as the best runners-up. They will play it this week at Crediton Golf Club against a strong team from Sidmouth.
