Axe Cliff Golf Club Seniors' captain Steve Thompson has now chosen his charity for his year. It is a worthy choice of Guide Dogs for the Blind, his Winter league partner Giles Dixon having a brother Nick living in Colyton, who is blind and deaf.. His Guide Dog is so loved and important to him allowing him to catch buses and go to the gym rather than be stuck indoors. It makes you realise what great work the Association does and how wonderful these amazing dogs are. I will certainly be putting in my donations in the glass jar on the bar.

Two players on form, at present are "Masher" Paul Curtin and Dan Hellier. When young Dan is not working behind the bar or on the course he is winning the February Stableford with a fine score of 45 points and last Sunday he won round seven of the Winter League with Paul with a great 51 in the main club section.

Paul is also young enough to play for the  Seniors and showed his undoubted class in the monthly Medal last week, coming in with an unbelievable net 64 some 6 shots below par- must be something in those eggs he keeps giving me ! It was perfect conditions and Andrew Thompson enjoyed it coming in second with 68 followed by Kevin Miller on 69.

Division Two had good scores as well with Anthony Critchfield taking the honours with a well deserved 66 from Bernard Hanson who got 69, and handicap secretary Chris Read took third spot with 70.

The Mashers Roll-Up last Wedneday, was well supported and won by Douglas Sinton on 41 points from Leighton Morgan, from the Valleys, on 39 and treasurer Bill Polley third with 38.

The Ladies played another round of their County Prize recently and it was good to see their youngest member, Amy Rodriquez, win with a first class 39 points. Amy, aged 18, has only just took up the game and, at this rate, will soon see her handicap fall - well done Amy. Margaret Kenchington took second with 32 and Pauline Willis third with 28 points."
