Axe Cliff Golf Club's photographer Brian Thompson, although not playing, as he is recovering from a nasty bite on his leg, managed to catch new member Andrew Bailey in the clubhouse.

Andrew was playing with a friend from the Dawlish Warren golf club and had a hole-in-one on the tricky par 3 11th hole with bunkers either

side of the green.

He can be seen here with the bottle of whiskey he bought at the bar to share with all who came into the clubhouse after him. I know because I was playing in our monthly medal and was one of the last to come in but still managed to enjoy a tot of the hard stuff - so thanks Andrew and congratulations.

Joining in the celebrations were Stuart MacKie, net 67; Alan Morgan, net 72; and Nigel Pritchard, net 74, who came first, second and third in Division One respectively.

Division Two was very exciting with some good scores, especially Ron Bragg on an amazing 67, closely followed by young Mark Wisby, who had two 8s on his card but still came second with a net 68. Mark finds it just as easy to get a double bogey as he does a gross birdie but he is still learning.

It was wonderful to see Charles Oram on the podium with a fine net 69 to take third spot.
