The strong wind sweeping up from the coast made it difficult for both sides. Millwey played the first half with the wind at their backs and instantly put Colyton under pressure.

After five minutes a through ball from Zak Meaker found Luke Thurlow who made no mistake with his clinical finish. Shortly after this Thurlow added to his tally with a second goal for Rise.

Strikes from Sam Turner and Joe Osborne went close as Millwey put their opponents under constant pressure. It was Osborne who scored their third with an assist from Nathan Womersley.

A couple of attacks caused some panic in the Rise defence and a free kick was gratefully cleared by keeper Jason Hoole, an able stand-in for the absent Brett Garner.

A minute before the break Rise were awarded a free kick from outside the box which was powerfully struck goalwards by Alex Rockett and eventually ended up in the net courtesy of a defender to make it 4-0 at the break.

It was Millwey's turn to play against the ever strengthening wind as the second period began and the home side became more of a threat with constant long clearances deep into the Rise half.

They forced several corners but it was the visitors who went further ahead when Womersley wriggled through Colyton's defence to unselfishly lay the ball in the path of young Owen Enticott for his first goal, and the fifth, for Millwey.

Another promising Rise youngster, defender Theo Souttar-Stone, gave way to another as Ben Webb took his place.

Colyton again began to exert more pressure and pulled a goal back from a long range, wind-assisted strike which gave Hoole no chance. Play then tracked from end to end but no further goals were added before referee Pete Avery, who had an excellent game, blew the final whistle.

For Millwey, Luke Thurlow took the man-of-match award for his goals and overall effort to add to them. Youngsters Ben Webb, Joey Osborne, Owen Enticott and Theo Souttar-Stone were all worth a word of praise for their performances under the difficult conditions.

This result sees Millwey in eighth place in the Devon and Exeter League Division Four. Next week Rise are away to Witheridge who are two places above them in the table.
