After drawing 4-4 and then losing on penalties against Southern League club Tiverton in an exciting county cup tie and then being trounced 4-0 by South West Peninsular Premier East leaders Okehampton Argyle, Axminster Town were anxious to get back to winning ways at Holsworthy.
Goals from Oscar Latas, who won the man-of-the-match awards and Aaron Daniels were enough to clinch a 2-1 win which sees the Tigers move into fifth place in the table , four points behind Brixham AFC.
Discipline still seems to be an issue at Tiger way with Axminster have the worse record in the Premier East Division with six sending offs and 31 yellows. This may be a headache for manager Dan Prettejogn, who has written in the club programme about the need for better discipline on the par, but some view this as evidence of the Tigers determination to compete at the highest level in all games in a bid to keep them in the top six.
On Saturday, Axminster are at home to St Blazey in the Walter C Parsons Cup. The Cornish side are third in the Peninsular West division.
