This is an I important week for Axminster Town Football Club. Following a 2-0 win over Elburton Villa on Saturday, cementing their fifth place in the South West Peninsular Premier East Division, tomorrow evening (Wednesday) the Tigers travel to a neutral ground at Bovey Tracey in a bid to win a place in the final of the prestigious Walter C Parsons Cup.
Their formidable opponents are Okehampton Argyle who sit in second place in the Premier East Division behind top placed Crediton United.
This is the first time the Tigers have got to a semi-final in this competition and if they pull off a victory against such a successful side it would count as one of the club's greatest results.
Axminster go into the semi-final after a good run of results which sees them in the top five of the Premier East Division. And there will be plenty of vociferous fans urging them on at Bovey Tracey as the club are running a supporters coach leaving Axminster at 6pm for the 7.30pm kick-off.
Against Elburton Villa last Saturday Axminster's goals came from a Richard Hebditch penalty and man-of-the-match Charlie Wilson. The victory closed the gap with fourth p[laced Ivybridge Town who have a four-point advantage but they have played one more game that the Tigers.
On Saturday Axminster travel to Torridgeside who they beat 4-1 on March 21st.
