June saw the final fourth round of our Masters Trophy with a thrilling finish leaving our overall winner of Nigel Pritchard despite a couple of 7s on his card and being pushed by Leighton Morgan and Geoff Greenslade who tied for second place with great finishes of 65s apiece.

I always think ,for the seniors, that this is our toughest competition being over four rounds and in medal format. The only differences from our professional players is that we play at Axe Cliff not Augusta and not on consecutive days either but probably over three to four weeks. weeks- well played Nigel.

We also competed for the Warren Cup Trophy and this was won by Richard Bush with a tremendous nett 64. Another close competition was our Seniors Charity Bowl with two players on 42 points but on countback the trophy goes to chef Nigel Tarr just beating Geoff Greenslade leaving third spot to Tony Snell with 39 points.

On the last day of the month the club battled for another tough competition being the Three Club Challenge where you are only allowed three clubs to play with and one is your putter. Tony Strong showed us that you don't need a full bag of clubs to choose from and won with a magnificent 34 points only two pts of playing to his handicap. Bill Polley and Leighton Morgan pushed him all the way in second and third respectively with 33s.

The Men's June Stableford turned out to be a thriller with one point separating the first three. Andy Trivett showed his class with a fine win with 37 points but only on countback from Jason Farrant. Bill Dearling made the podium taking third place with a 36. Recent Masher's Roll Up winners were firstly Andy Jeffrey and most recent Chris Walker with 39 and 41 points respectively, Andy showing he not only can keep the Course looking great but can also play a bit.
