Axminster Town returned home yesterday with a useful three points after a 1-0 victory over South West Peninsular Premier East rivals Dartmouth AFC.
With a game in hand and a better goal difference, Axminster could now jump above Dartmouth into sixth place with two games left to play, one of them against bottom of the league Ottery St Mary at Tiger Way on Wdnesday.
In the Devon and Exeter Premier division Lyme Regis kissed goodbye to any chance of finishing in fourth place after losing 4-3 at Elmore. It was the fourth time the Seasiders had lost to a 4-3 scoreline this season.
Charmouth, winners of the Tommy Tabberer Cup for a third time on Good Friday, will finish in second place in Perry Street Division Two after leaders Drimpton beat Drimoton 6-2. Charmouth won their game against neighbours Thorncombe 5-4 and will have now to settle for the runners-up spot.
