Dawlish United 2, Seaton Town 1

Seaton first team travelled to Devon & Exeter Premier East early high-flyers Dawlish United on a wet and blustery day hoping for a result that reflected their determination to improve on the previous defeat against neighbours Colyton.

The first half was full of chances for Seaton as they looked to use the wind and slope of the pitch to their advantage. But against the run of play Dawlish took advantage of a mix-up up at the back to take a surprise lead.

Seaton fell further behind when Lewis Cottam brought down the Dawlish attacker when through on goal, earning a yellow card for his troubles. Up stepped the Dawlish marksmen to dispatch the resulting penalty beyond Andy Moore in the Seaton goal.

As has often been the case, Seaton returned from the half-time break in menacing mood, creating numerous chances against the odds, playing into the wind only to be denied by the stubborn Dawlish defence.

It took until extra-time through an own goal when the defender turned a James Hill cross into his own net for Seaton to get some reward for their efforts.

Seaton's second defeat of the season sees them in sixth place in the Premier East Division. On Saturday, Seaton are at home to Feniton who are leading the division on goal average above Dawlish.
