A full 13 points separated bottom club Millwey Rise 2nds and mid-table Westexe Park Rangers so this must have been the result of the day as Rise came back to Cloakham 5-2 winners.

Millwey started the game strongest, confidently going forward, and took the lead through an outstanding lob from Leon Finbow.

Still pushing hard a Rise attacker was brought down in the box and from the penalty spot this season's top scorer Jack Bennett smashed the ball into the net.

The home team then began to exert more pressure but found their efforts thwarted by the great defensive work of Millwey's defenders Imran Chowdhury, Wayne Jenkins and Alex Osborne.

It was then Rise who found themselves three up before half-time when Finbow scored with a delightful chip. They came near to being four up when Sam Beviss, who only started playing football this season, went really close with a fantastic header that rattled the bar.

Westexe flexed their muscles at the start of the second period but foundered on Millwey's rock-like defence and the goalkeeping of Kierran Bearpark.

Rise then added a fourth goal through Cameron Board on the counter before Westexe pulled a goal back. This was much against the run of play but it fired them up and after some more sustained pressure Millwey conceded a penalty which initially hit the bar but the taker scored from the follow up.

Rangers really put the Millwey defence under the cosh but again they stood solid. The final goal saw Millwey break quickly with the ball finding Dave Bridges who rounded the onrushing keeper and calmly slotted it into the net for number five and the best victory this season for Rise.

Managers Terry Male and Mark Enticott were "over the moon" with their teams performance and attitude and couldn't give any individual man-of-the-match so opted to give it collectively to the whole team who left everything on the pitch and got what they deserved after suffering a few weeks of depressing results.
