A PENALTY in the 90th minute delivered a 3-2 victory for Lyme Regis Reserves against high-flying East Budleigh this afternoon (Saturday).

In a stiffly competitive game, the Seasiders opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Cody Bowditch latched onto a throughball down the left and cooly slotted it home.

With Rob Harp injured, Robbie Fowler took over the goalkeeping gloves and was soon in action, winning a one-on-one .

Cody extended Lyme's lead in the 18th minute with a looping shot from the left which gave the visiting keeper little chance .

East Budleigh looked dangerous in attack and Fowler was forced to clear his line to keep the score at 2-1.

But the visitors weren't to be denied and pulled one back from the penalty spot after a clumsy sliding tackle in the box from Wallace Blackmore.

East Budleigh started strongly after the break and were unlucky not to have drawn levelled when a spectacular overhead kick ricocheted off the bar.

But the equaliser did not come util the 83rd minute with a second penalty for a handball offence after a scuffle in the box which resulted in four payers, two from each side, being yellow carded by referee Brian Perryman, a former Lyme manager. Brothers Robbie and Toby Fowler were the Lyme offenders.

The winner came in the very last minute of the game, again from a penalty, converted with ease by Ryan Fifer, his 50th goal for the club.

Despite this result, East Budleigh retained their second place in the Devon and Exeter League Division One East whilst Lyme moved up a place to sixth, having taken ten p0ints from their last four games.
