Axminster started brightly against a quality Ivybridge team but ultimately a lack of discipline again cost them two points in a 1-1 draw.
The Tigers' good start brought an early reward with Breaden Symes scoring from close range after Chris McGrath header from a corner rebounded off the crossbar.
Axe continued dominate possession with Ivybridge showing their quality in breakaways.
The Tigers missed the opportunity of going 2-0 up after 20 mins when the Ivybridge goalkeeper saved a penalty.
This miss seemed to change the game as Ivybridge began to dominate the game.
The second half started in the same mode with Axe defending well.
As Ivybridge began to dominate play, Axminster's lack of discipline increased and after 70 minutes they had a player sin binned and their dominance brought an equaliser after 78 minutes.
It was only quality defending by Axe that kept the score at 1-1 but after being back to 11 players another player was sin-binned to leave the Tigers hanging on.
Manager Dan Prettejohn rightly felt that their lack of discipline cost Axminster two points, but all things considered it was a good point against a side riding high in the South West Peninsular League.
Man of the match award went to centre-back Chris McGrath.
On Saturday, Axminster travel to Torridgeside who are sitting in 17th place in the league. They don't have another home league match until Monday, Deember 27 when they meet Ottery St Mary, who are enjoying successful season, currently lying in second spot.

- Axminster Ladies good run of form came to a halt on Sunday when they lost 4-2 to West Exe at Tiger Way, only their second defeat of the season.
