Axminster Town Under 14s started brightly in the first half but were caught with a quick long throw over the defence for the opposing striker to finish with ease.

This geared the Tigers on, with Flynn Hartford's quick feet he crossed the ball into the danger area for the opposing defender to steer the ball into his own net under pressure from the strikers.

Now playing some good football, the young Tigers created two great chances but somehow skied the ball over the bar when it seemed easier to score.

Going into the second half, Merriott frustrated Axminster with their physical, very direct approach with the ball consistently going out of play. After a quick water break due to an injury Axe changed the formation which paid off quickly as Theo Dibling broke down the right wing to cross superbly on his weak foot to find Flynn Hartford who headed home the winner.

It was a scrappy game at times but the Tigers determination got them the points in the end. . The man-of-the-match was given to Cian Murdy in goal who played the keeper-sweeper role superbly.

Thanks go you to Dan Beer for refereeing the game.
