Following a 3-3 draw with neighbours Sidmouth Town, a goal from Jamie Short sealed the there points needed at Dartmouth on Saturday to keep Axminster Town in the top six of the South West Peninsular Premier East division.

Axminster had an early let-off when Shay Allen saved a penalty in the opening five minutes. Both sides had good chances in the first half, but the winning goal came in the 46th minute when Richard Hebditch won a penalty. The Dartmouth keeper saved the spot-kick by Craig Vale, who has scored 13 goals in his 15 appearances for the Tigers so far, was on hand the slam home the rebound.

Skipper Chris McGrath, who was awesome in defence, was awarded the man-of-the-match award.

Goals in the Sidmouth game came from Veal (2) and Joe Chamberlain. Jamie Price got his matching orders after picking up to yellow cards.

Axminster have lost the services of influential mid-fielder Josh Wadham, the former Exeter City and Taunton player, who has joined Sidmouth Town.

This coming Saturday Axminster are away to Teignmouth AFC who are in ninth place in the division.

In the Walter C Parsons Cup the Tigers have been drawn at home to St Blazey. The game has to be played on or before January 2nd.
