AXMINSTER TOWN bounced back after losing their opening three matches with a much better performance at Crediton United where an 88th minute goal gave them a 3-2 victory to kick-start their South West Peninsular Premier East campaign.

Axminster travelled to Lords Meadow on the back of three defeats against Dartmouth (2-1), Elmore (3-1) and Torrington (4-0), but goals from Marcus Fanson and Josh Phillips, the last coming late in the game, secured three valuable points for the Tigers before a crowd of nearly 200.

It a much more committed performance from the Axminster players, the man- of-the-match went to Luke Finn.

Before the game Axminster manager Josh Stunnell was presented with a pre-Covid SWP League team of the week award.

This coming Saturday (September 19th) Axminster will face a stern test when they travel to Launceston for a FA Vase tie, followed by an away league match at Sidmouth Town on September 23rd.
